Sherri driving Bob & Bill in Fountain, Michigan.

Sherri Huffman
from East Jordan Michigan has been pulling
horses the past 16 years. She pulls her horses Bob & Bill in the
Heavyweight classes in Michigan but says someday she'd like to try pulling out
East and in other areas. Some days her husband Bill borrows her Bob horse.
Sherri claims she gives Bill the best and pulls the rest. She says she
loves competing everywhere but the Manton Harvest Festival may be her favorite.
The people there really enjoy watching Sherri pull and always stop by afterwards
to chat. Something Sherri loves to do. She considers her most
important accomplishment in pulling to be
earning the respect from the guys in the pulling
community. Also she is the Secretary/ Treasurer of the Michigan Horsepulling
Association and she takes a great deal of pride in handling that title. It's is
a lot of work but the positive comments from the members make it all worth it
and when teamsters approach me in other states to let me know I'm doing a great
job, well that just tells me I must be on the right track! Sherri logs for a
living along side her husband. He does the cutting and she does the
skidding with either the skidder, dozer or horses. She also trains riding
horses for show. Sherri is excited that her grandson Wyatt and
granddaughter Cyndel are showing an interest in horsepulling. She'd like
us to know that she has had more fun pulling and just socializing with the
teamsters than she could have ever imagined. The teamsters and the spectators
are just great! At the end of the year I do get a bit tired of harnessing every
day but it is worth it when I get to the pull and start pulling the cement back
and forth on the track. I do have to admit that I like the socializing part
with the other teamsters the best! My thoughts are if you cant have fun doing
it, don't! But if you can, HAVE A BALL! See Ya at the Pulls! |
