Robert
Simpson of McDonough, NY. has been pulling
horses for
over 30 years. Bob, a past president of the New York State Horse Pullers
Assn., competes with six horses in lightweight and heavyweight classes in
primarily NY, NJ and PA but can be found most weekends after labor day
pulling somewhere in New England . And if you see Bob around you know his wife
Sue is somewhere near by. He makes his living trucking cattle, logging and
raising heifers. Bob looks forward to competing in his favorite pull at the
Dutchess County fair in Rhinebeck, NY each year. He told us he considers his
most important accomplishment in pulling to be winning the NY. State lightweight
championship in 1985. Bob says you have to really love horsepulling to compete
because there certainly isn't any money in it.
