Donald (Donnie) Darnell
from Morley, Michigan has been pulling horses for 32 years. He learned
most of what he knows about pulling from his late father Cecil M. Darnell who he
used to help when he was actively pulling horses. Don presently has
four horses that he competes with in heavyweight classes all over the state of
Michigan. Don is a retired Michigan State Policemen and now administers
GED testing to keep busy. He told us that his favorite pull was the one he
was competing at at the present time. Don lists his most important
accomplishment in pulling as helping to preserve the sport. He has done
this by serving in the past as a director and president as well as currently
holding down the job of secretary/treasurer of the Michigan Horsepulling Boat
Association. Don also is the superintendent of pulling at the Ionia
Free Fair. |
